Danielle's Poem, Darkness was descriptive

I found a poem in Space #3 by Danielle.

I liked the poem “Darkness” because it’s interesting.

One part that stood out for me is: “I try to wake up, but my eyes won’t open, I want to see the daylight again.” I think this is cool because it sounds like you’re having a nightmare or something and it’s descriptive.

Another part that I liked was: “I travel through the dark tunnel and see a bright light, this could be heaven.” This stood out for me because it’s like you escaped darkness and now your in the light.

I look forward to seeing what Danielle makes next, because her poem was interesting and descriptive.

Kristy's poem about "Spring" rhymes

I found a poem in Space #3 by Kristy.

I liked Kristy’s poem, “Spring,” because it rhymed.

One part that stands out for me is: “Walking down the road, Getting very wet, I start to run as fast as a jet.” I think this is weird because why would you run if it’s raining?

Another part that stood out was: “Green grass is beginning to Pop Out, That makes me want to shout!” This stood out for me because I agree, spring is an exciting season because plants start to grow and stuff.

I look forward to seeing what Kristy makes next, because she wrote a good poem.

Is Florida A Nice Place To Visit?

Florida is a nice place to visit. Last Thursday, I went to Orlando, Florida for 5 days. I was in a hotel with my 2 brothers, my mother, and my father. The hotel had a big pool and a jacuzzi. I went to the pool almost everyday because it was like 90 something degrees outside. I met some new people. Some of them were actually from Florida but they were just staying in a hotel for some reason. Others were from places like Georgia or Oklahoma. They’ve never been to New York so they were asking me and my two brother questions about it. I went to this water park called Sea World. It was fun, we went on a lot of water slides. There was one where you sit on this big lifesaver and you slide down into a pool. It went down really quick, at first I thought I was going to splash into the pool but I was able to float with the lifesaver. There was another part of Sea World that had sand like a beach and a pool. Every few minutes the pool will have waves. I had a good time when I went to Florida.

Before I didn’t think that Florida was that good a state. The reason I thought this was because all the hurricanes and stuff. But now that I got to go there for the first time I got to see how it really is. I learned that I shouldn’t judge places by what I see on the news or what other people say. I got the see it for myself and Florida is a nice place to visit.

Over the weekend, I went to shopping in Southern Boulevard with my mother, my brother, and my sister. I was looking for a graduation dress but I’m too picky when it comes to things like dresses and stuff. I couldn’t find a dress. I hope I find one that’s not too simple but not too over the top. Because it’s just a 8th grade graduation, it’s not like I’m graduating from high school yet and we not even going to wear cap and gown. Instead of shopping for my dress I shopped for clothes for my trip to Florida. It’s only 5 days that I’m going to spend over there but at least I’m going somewhere. After buying clothes, I went to my Aunt’s house. I was with my two cousins and my brother. I was playing games on the PS3 with them.Then on Sunday, I stayed home and went on the computer. I ate alot of Dominos Pizza. I ate leftover cake from my nephew’s birthday party. I had alot of fun on my weekend because I got to spend time with my family.

Winston's Poem is very descriptive

I found a poem in Space, Issue #2 by Winston.

I liked the poem, Where I’m From because it gave a a lot of detail.

One part that stood out for me is: “the trees die with their branches drooping down depressingly.” I think this is descriptive because you can picture it in your mind.

Another part that stood out to me was: “Andres plays his most faved instrument, The Saxophone, and Gladys sews endlessly, making a new creation after the next.” This stood out for me because it was interesting.

I look forward to seeing what Winston makes next, because he gave alot of detail and you can picture everything that he wrote in your mind by the way he described it.

Will I graduate from High School?

I think I will graduate from High School. In elementary school, I was a straight A student. Now in junior high school, I get decent grades, high enough to pass the class. But I’ve been slacking lately. I know I’m going to graduate from 8th grade. I know if I try hard enough like I did in elementary school. I will graduate from high school.

- I use the internet to connect with friends and others by using instant messaging (i-m). It’s better to use i-m because it’s faster than email. Email is another way to communicate with friends, when you use i-m the person you are talking has to be online also, but with email they don’t have to be online.

Senior Trip

I am thinking about the Senior Trip. It’s on June 5th and it’s to the Poconos. I don’t know what is the Poconos. All I know is that it’s in Pennsylvania. I hope it’s fun because if it’s $120 then it has to be fun. We’re staying there the whole day. I think it’s better if we go for more than just a day like we did with Clearpool. Even though it was like a day and a half it was still fun because it was overnight. When I researched the Poconos on the internet, I didn’t really find that much information on it.

Dora is a funny and creative video

I found a video in Space, Issue #2 by Riley, Matt and Mike.

I enjoyed watching Dora because it was funny and creative.

One thing that stands out for me is that for the characters they used clay but I never saw the hands of whoever was moving the characters. I think this is unique because I don’t know how they did that and I’ve never really seen anything like it.

Another part that stood out to me was the fact that they made a video about Dora. This stood out to me because even though the video is like Dora The Explorer it was still interesting.

I look forward to seeing what Riley, Matt and Mike makes next, because this “Movie” entertained me, it was creative and funny.

Break

My break was alright. I had to take care of my nephew while he was at my house. I didn’t want to take care of him because he’s so annoying so my brother mostly took care of him. Over break I also went to the salon with my mother. I went shopping in Cross County Mall. I went outside with my brother. But I mostly just stayed home and relaxed. I was happy because I got to sleep more than I usually do when there is school. It was boring but it’s better than being at school.

The attacks by the janjaweed, the fearsome Arab militias that came three weeks ago, accompanied by government bombers and followed by the Sudanese Army, were a return to the tactics that terrorized Darfur in the early, bloodiest stages of the conflict.

Military officials from the peacekeeping force in Darfur said in recent days that the Sudanese military had added nearly a brigade of troops to West Darfur, along with two dozen tanks and armored vehicles and many heavy weapons.

At least 200,000 are believed to have died as a result of the violence or sickness and hunger caused by the crisis, according to international estimates, with the majority of violent deaths in that period.

Darfur is a state located in Africa. There are a lot of problems going on there now. People have been burned. There are 30,000 people that have been displaced. Children are being abandoned. Rebellion broke out in 2003, Since then, there has been a lot of violence. 20,000 people have died, 2.5 million were driven from their homes. People from the United States are trying to help the people in Darfur by providing medical things and other stuff.

People in Darfur have had enough, they are tired of the things that are happening.

Sudan’s government and the pro-government Arab militias are accused of war crimes against the region’s black African population, although the UN has stopped short of calling it genocide.

Darfur, which means land of the Fur, has faced many years of tension over land and grazing rights between the mostly nomadic Arabs, and farmers from the Fur, Massaleet and Zagawa communities.

The leader of one SLA faction, Minni Minawi, who signed a peace deal in 2006 after long-running talks in Nigeria, was given a large budget, but his fighters have already been accused by Amnesty International of abuses against people in areas opposed to the peace deal.

I sometimes think that I am a lucky person to have a great family. I love my family with all my heart and I know that they love me too. I care about them all and I wont want nothing to ever happen to them.I be having the greatest time with them. Most of my family live in the Dominican Republic. I don’t really see them. I only see them when I go to the Dominican Republic for vacation. When I go I be so glad because I’m with my family, but when its time to come back to New York. I wish that I could go every year and visit my family.

The reason why I love and care about my family so much because they are everything for me they take care of me and I know that if one day I need help with something I know that I’m gonna have them right by my side helping me out in what I need. Even though most of them are in Dominican Republic I know that they still care about me and that they love me. The person that I really love is my parents and my aunt that lives her in New York.

I also can’t forget about my grandmother that I love with all my heart. I have two grandmothers one from my mother side and one from my father side. But the one that I really love and care about is the one from my mother side. Every time I go to Dominican Republic I take things for her that I know that she would like and that I know that she would be happy. I care about all my family not only one of them. Yes I might have a favorite cousin or aunt but it doesn’t mean nothing to me everybody in my family knows that I got love for all of them. Family is the most important thing I have in my life and I’ll never stop loving them or stop caring about them because I love them.

(^_^)I agree, I think I’m lucky too for having such a good family but sometimes I wish I was an only child. (*_ *)

Boring

I am not thinking about anything. This class is boring. How am i supposed to free write if i don’t know what to write about?……………Some people in this class are writing about RUNESCAPE. Who does that? I would write about family but there’s no point.
